Material Manager
David oversees the overall material management from receipt of incoming parts, through the delivery of parts to production areas for assembly build-up, to the final finished good products. He also serves as logistics coordinator with UPS and LTL packages and shipments.
He’s been an integral part of our team for over 40 years now. His attention to detail is imperative, and his focus on both internal processes, and customer service, makes him an invaluable team member to our organization. His team describes him as a hands-on manager who is always willing to help when and wherever needed.
What roles had you previously held at DENTALEZ that helped you learn specific things for your position today?
When I was first hired, I worked in Engineering for 15 years as a drafter (drawing and details) which gave me product knowledge. Then I had the opportunity to move to the manufacturing environment as a production supervisor for another 15 years. This gave me the opportunity to manage people and learn the manufacturing and material aspects of production control and meeting customer expectations.
In the last ten plus years another opportunity opened for Logistics Coordinator, and I accepted the position with hesitation but soon realized I could help be effective with the custom experience internally and externally. We built a team concept of improving communication with purchasing/production personnel/customer service/scheduling/ planning and improving on time delivery and customer experience.
Now I serve as material manager which consists of all the above tasks and hope to serve until my retirement!
What do you like about working in the dental industry?
How dynamic it is. You wouldn’t think there’d be so much evolution in dental equipment! I have seen the equipment and utility lines change quite a bit throughout my years here and evolve with innovation and change. We now have smart utility products and soon the equipment line will have smart devices as well.
What's your favorite aspect of your job?
The daily communication with ALL the people involved with the daily production shipment needs. And at the same time, ensuring a total quality customer experience for customers.
After forty-plus years at DENTALEZ, I have built invaluable relationships with external and internal suppliers/customers and with past and current employees.
I plan to hold those, and still make more, for a lifetime! Thank you DENTALEZ for allowing me to be a part of the team!!
What's your favorite DENTALEZ product and why?
The seating equipment line built at Bay (chairs/stools/upholstery) are my favorite. I have seen the chair line evolve the most: from the old J style to the NuSimplicity style and now the new 6400. I have enjoyed seeing the upholstery items; seeing them built in our standard colors as well as the special colors. Knowing the patient is sitting on a DENTALEZ chair and a dentist and assistant are sitting on the DENTALEZ stools is a fun experience when entering a dentist operatory.
