Robert came to DENTALEZ in 2017, after a career spent primarily in the Orthopedics industry, where he developed his philosophy of being customer focused and putting himself in the customer, patient or doctor’s viewpoint ensuring that the product offered, designed and sold provided the best possible outcome for everyone involved in the process.
We asked Rob to share what motivates and excites him about his work at DENTALEZ!
What do you like about working in the dental industry?
I think what piqued my interest the most, in dental, was my feeling that there's a huge opportunity to advance the industry in ways that haven’t been seen in the recent past. I've been fortunate to be a part of some paradigm shifts in technology in other industries, and I felt that I wanted to do that when I joined DENTALEZ.
And why DENTALEZ, specifically?
I looked back to the innovation that started with the now-iconic J-Chair and decided that I wanted to be part of the new DENTALEZ, creating the same industry shift in the practice of dentistry that had been done in the past. The opportunity to develop and launch something that would leave its mark in the industry is what keeps me pushing forward every day.
How is DENTALEZ making these industry-changing shifts?
I think the launch of the first true IOT connected utility products and the most powerful air-driven handpiece in the market are all steps we're taking to answer the needs of our dentists and reestablish DENTALEZ as an innovative leader in the industry. We continue to dedicate our focus on game-changing products, and I plan to be there when we launch that home-run idea that shakes up the entire industry!
What's your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect of my job is problem-solving, as I feel that is what engineers like to do. We’re given a set of requirements, along with the goal, and it's our job to figure out how to take what we've been given and plot a course of action in order to achieve the goal. Sometimes, there's a quick and easy solution, although many other times it takes a lot of perseverance. In my role, while I'm not working directly on the individual projects, I do have a team of engineers and technical folks in each location, that given the challenge, can design, develop, test and make whatever it is that we can dream up. I’ll say that they are the ones who make my job easier and deserve a lot of credit.
What's your favorite DENTALEZ product and why?
So, I must admit, answering this question is similar to answering the question of which of your kids do you like best. I look at each product in the portfolio differently and each has something that makes it interesting in its own way. We are lucky to have such a diverse portfolio that touches an industry from the time the dentist is going to school, to when they are looking to set up their practice and then providing support all the way through their career. Not many other companies have that opportunity to make an impact on an industry. So, in a similar way as I can't say which of my kids are my favorite, I'll say I don't necessarily have a favorite product. I find interest and enjoyment with every product family, each in their own way and all for different reasons.
