Over 140 dental professionals from throughout the states of New York and California attended the two most recent oral cancer seminars presented by DentalEZ and Henry Schein. The continuing education programs not only highlighted the benefits of incorporating the StarDental® Identafi® into a sustainable profit center for dental practices, but also covered the treatment journey for patients beyond the oral cancer diagnosis. The lectures covered the current state of oral cancer and how the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is shifting the demographic of the diagnosis population. Attendees also received in-depth information on how the Identafi can become the key piece in developing a cause-related marketing platform to develop partnerships with medical groups and non-profit organizations to better help patients every day.
The Oral Cancer Foundation, in its continued partnership with Henry Schein and DentalEZ, offered attendees goodie bags filled with patient-based literature, screening tips, and deliverables to help dental professionals generate awareness for oral cancer year-round. The Oral Cancer: From Screening to Survivorship lecture series continues as Dr. Abbott heads to Sacramento, CA on July 17, 2015. Saturday’s Healthy Mouth Movement from the Aspen Dental network was planned to provide the benefit of free dental care to our veterans, and that’s exactly what it did. From simple exams to repairing chipped teeth and filling cavities, Aspen’s volunteering dental professionals provided much needed service to one of the country’s most valuable assets.
Since the movement’s inception in January of 2014, Aspen’s dental professionals associated with events like these put in an extra day’s work to provide care to over 3000 veterans in 31 different states, with more than 300 locations participating.
In total, the Aspen Dental Network has provided an estimated $1 million in free dental healthcare through limited exams, as a single visit to a dental professional may not be enough to bring some of the participants up to an adequate level of dental health.
Aspen Dental Office Manager Samantha Bush defined the nature of these visits. “We bring them in and take care of their main concerns. If they're in pain we definitely want to get them out of pain. If they have a filling that needs to be done, we want to take care of that filling," she told 41NBC’s Elaine Rackley.
While subsequent visits were needed for some of the more extreme cases, the primary goals of tending to patients’ primary issues and easing pain was a largely successful (and very well received) venture.
So as we thank our veterans for valiantly serving our country, perhaps we should take a second to tip our caps to the good people of Aspen Dental as well for going out of their way to serve them.
During the week of May 18th, DentalEZ® Integrated Solutions hosted technical product training for several Schein Reps from all over the country at our Bay Minette, AL facility. Bill Paulson, Technical Service Manager, conducted training on our DentalEZ Equipment Solutions and Jeff Flesner, Technical Service Representative, was on site for RAMVAC® Utility Solutions product training. At Schein’s request, the training focused on Aspen Dental products but also touched on other current products.

In addition,Bill Paulson has put together a live online training presentation for our Wet Ring Pumps.
This training presentation is available for our dealer partner technicians, and is an inexpensive way for them to gain valuable technical knowledge of this product. Because the training is live, participants can ask questions and discuss issues that they have experienced with this product. The training will take about an hour, maybe a little longer, depending upon the amount of participation from the group.

We recently attended the Henry Schein National Sales Meeting held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
We had three booths in the exhibit space. Our equipment booth showcased our product categories with DentalEZ® Equipment Solutions and RAMVAC® Utility Solutions including our new NextGen® Sterilization Center and Amalgam HoG. Over on the merchandise side, we displayed our StarDental® Instrument Solutions including high- and low-speed handpieces. Last but not least our Identafi® Oral Cancer Screening booth consisted of an enclosed area where visitors could hear testimonials from oral cancer survivors and learn how vital early detection is in the fight against oral cancer.
Each year, Henry Schein chooses a different theme to focus the National Sales Meeting around. This year’s theme, Looking Back to the Future, gave us the chance to have a little fun as we raffled off a skateboard similar to the hoverboard Marty McFly used for most of his transportation needs (when he wasn’t in the Delorean). Our winner, Kelly Erler, a Field Sales Consultant in Orange, CA was thankful for the prize but also glad to have DentalEZ in attendance at the meeting. And we were glad to be there! It was a fun meeting and it's always great to not only educate our dealer partners on new products but also see old friends.
Today marks the beginning of two events in which DentalEZ is participating. The first is Pacific Northwest Dental Conference. The two-day conference is in Bellevue, WA and is hosted by the Washington State Dental Association. If you’re planning to be there, remember to come by and visit us at Booth # 137.
The second event is the three-day Florida National Dental Convention. DentalEZ will be in the exhibitor hall at Booth # 721. If you’d like to check out our products, you can do so throughout the day or during the dedicated exhibit hall hours, which are from 12pm to 2pm each day.
The following weekend is another weekend with overlapping events for DentalEZ. Some of our team will visit Florida again, this time Fort Lauderdale for DentalFX while other team members will be in Tennessee for the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA). The ADHA is in Nashville this year and runs from June 17th – 23rd, offering CE courses, networking events and other career-enhancing programs throughout the week. We’ll be at Booth # 420 during the exhibitor hours, which are Friday, 9:00am – 4:00 pm and Saturday, 10:00am – 2:00pm.

On June 27th, over 300 Aspen Dental Practices throughout 31 states will be participating in the Healthy Mouth Movement, an initiative launched by Aspen last year to deliver free dental care and education to those in need.
The struggles veterans face in attempts to find oral health care are significant. If a veteran isn’t a former POW or doesn’t have a service-connected dental condition, finding affordable care can become a serious challenge.
If you’re a veteran interested in receiving free dental care, call 1-844-AspenHMM to find a participating practice near you and schedule an appointment. Dentists and volunteers are donating their time and talents on June 27th to meet the most urgent dental needs of each veteran they see.
Danica Patrick recently commented in an Aspen Dental press release, "I am excited to continue my work with Aspen Dental to increase awareness about the importance of oral health through the Healthy Mouth Movement," said Danica Patrick, NASCAR driver and Aspen Dental spokesperson. "This year is special because we are focusing our efforts on honoring and serving veterans, who have given so much to our country."
Aspen’s Healthy Mouth Movement has also partnered with two strong organizations dedicated to dentistry and veterans. The first organization, Got Your 6, is focused on empowering veterans. Got Your 6, which to civilians can be taken as, "I got your back," works on veteran reintegration in varied areas of life, including leadership, health and education. The second organization partnered with the Healthy Mouth Movement is MouthMobile.
The MouthMobile is a 42-foot mobile dental office that visits areas in the United States that are sorely lacking the oral health care they require. DentalEZ was happy to donate operatory equipment including a NuSimplicity chair, Simplicity unit and light, Generation stools, RAMVAC vacuums and compressors and StarDental Handpieces. The MouthMobile is putting our donation to good use and will continue to do so as they are providing dental care at 28 locations in 21 states from March through November.

One particular non-profit, Kids Smiles, has worked to improve access to care and provide dental education for children since 2001. Their DC location has provided dental screenings for over 8,000 children and provided oral health education throughout the community, as well as given 4,000 children access to quality dental care since 2010 at their Southeast DC dental center.
With Kids Smiles, 86% of every dollar donated directly impacts a child’s life. Donations are appreciated and put to good use every day.
